Dr. Andy Castillo is the Medical Director and Owner of De Novo Aesthetics and its sister business, M.D. Laser Studio. He is a board-certified physician with extensive dermatological and surgical training. His education includes a BS from the University of Maryland, an MD from Wake Forest University, and an MBA from Duke University Fuqua School of Business. While serving in the United States Army as a flight surgeon, he successfully completed a plastic and reconstructive surgery research fellowship at prestigious Johns Hopkins. A Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Dr. Castillo has participated in the Constitution & Bylaws Committee, Audit Committee, and Strategic Planning Committee. As a laser medicine expert, he is often called upon to train other medical professionals on laser procedures. He has served as a Luminary for Laserscope/Iridex, has trained and spoken on behalf of Medicis, and is a Diamond-Level Provider of Botox/ Juvederm family of products for Allergan. He, along with his wife and partner Dr. Appleton, regularly teach continuing medical education courses on BOTOX®, dermal fillers and PRP (platelet rich plasma). His other businesses include Carolina Passport Health and MD Laser Studio, and MD Laser Day Spa. In his off time, he enjoys spending time with his family of eight, coaching lacrosse and performing DIY projects.

Dr. Andy Castillo, MD, MBA

Dr. Rebecca Appleton is the co-owner of De Novo Aesthetics and is married to Dr. Castillo. Dr. Appleton is a board-certified family physician, a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and a member of the International Society for Hair Restoration Surgery. She earned a B.S. from Duke and M.S. from the University of Maryland. After earning her master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Dr. Appleton earned her M.D. at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. She practiced family medicine in Lake Norman for almost 20 years, focusing on women’s health, dermatology, and office procedures. At this time, Dr. Appleton contributes extensively to their other businesses (MD Laser Studio, MD Laser Day Spa, and Carolina Passport Health), but focuses mainly on De Novo Aesthetics. This allows her flexibility to run their busy home while supervising a dedicated team of nurse injectors in the Lake Norman and Charlotte areas. In addition, she leads the treatments at M.D. Laser Studio for feminine rejuvenation. When she isn’t working or caring for their six children and her mother, she enjoys running, gardening, and anything involving their furry family members.

Cara has been a nurse since 2010. She completed her RN at Cabarrus College of Health Sciences and BSN at UNC Wilmington. She recently finished her Family Nurse Practitioner degree at Herzing University and plans to use her education to continue to provide Botox, dermal fillers and other aesthetic treatments to her patients. Cara joined De Novo Aesthetics as a start-up business in 2016, where she trained extensively under Dr. Castillo and Dr. Appleton. Michelle is our Concord-native medical aesthetician. After graduating from Coastal Carolina University, Michelle found her true passion for skincare and beauty. Michelle has been in the medical aesthetics industry for 3 years. During the past 3 years, she has become knowledgeable in result-driven treatments such as Hydrafacials, chemical peels, lash lifts, and brow services!.
